About This Training
Congressional caseworkers develop an extraordinary set of skills — navigating complex bureaucracies, advocating for people in crisis, managing high volumes of sensitive cases, and building relationships across agencies and communities. These capabilities are valuable far beyond the walls of a Congressional office.
Whether your Member is retiring, your office is facing a transition, or you’re simply exploring what’s next, this panel brings together former caseworkers who’ve built fulfilling careers across a range of sectors. They’ll share how they translated their experience into roles in senior Congressional staff positions, federal agencies, health care, policy organizations, and direct social services — and what you can learn from their journeys.
You’ll hear from panelists about:
How to identify and articulate casework skills that employers across sectors are looking for
What the transition looked like for them — the surprises, the challenges, and what they wish they’d known before
Practical advice for resumes, interviews, and networking when your experience doesn’t fit neatly into a standard job description
How casework expertise can open doors you might not expect
Why We’re Hosting This
We’re not encouraging anyone to leave a role they love. Casework is vital, undervalued work, and the people who do it well are irreplaceable. But for those already navigating a transition — whether by choice or circumstance — we want to make sure your skills, institutional knowledge, and deep expertise in constituent services help you land somewhere that’s the right fit. You’ve spent your career helping other people figure out their next steps. This one’s for you.
The panel will include plenty of time for Q&A, so come ready with your questions. And remember, you can always participate anonymously or with a personal Zoom account.
This online webinar will take place on Thursday, March 26, at 4 PM ET. Registration is free.
