Almost 20% of Congress will be new to their seats next year - at least. How could the next Congress work better than the last?
Please join DC Abundance and POPVOX Foundation for an afternoon of casual lightning talks on how we could build a more capable Congress.
If you care about federal state capacity, look upstream to Congress, which writes the statutes that define what agencies can do. A weak legislative branch pushes presidents toward more executive orders and agencies toward legal defensibility over delivery.
This in-person event will take place in the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington DC, on Saturday, November 7, from 2 to 4 PM ET. Space is limited, so please RSVP to hold your spot.
The lineup:
Congressional Management Foundation: Karsen Bailey, Deputy Chief of Staff, will present “Taking Back First Branch Authority.”
R Street: Jeremy Dalrymple, Associate Policy Director for Governance, will present “Reclaiming the People’s House: Empowering Rank-and-File Members.”
R Street: Nan Swift, Senior Fellow for Governance, will share “Ideas on Federal Budget Reform.”
POPVOX Foundation: Aubrey Wilson, Managing Director, will present “The Case for an Office of Congressional Capacity and Technology.”
TechCongress: Evan Straka, TechCongress Fellow, will present “AI Workflows for Congress.”
