POPVOX Foundation Brings Its Work to State Legislatures
Since our founding in 2021, POPVOX Foundation has helped democratic institutions keep pace with a rapidly changing world. We have seen firsthand that legislatures worldwide face many of the same core challenges: growing workloads, overworked staff, outdated systems, and the rapid arrival of AI. State legislatures are affected by these challenges as well.
Over the past several years, we have developed resources, training, and research in support of Congress and parliaments around the world as they modernize to improve operations and effectiveness. We are now adapting that work for the states, partnering with staff and members in legislatures across America to document best practices, highlight innovations, and create networks of learning.
Our state work is taking shape on several fronts:
State of the Art newsletter: a new publication on legislative capacity and modernization in the states, tracking how legislatures are adapting their operations, adopting new tools like AI, and learning from one another. Subscribe here.
Resource Bank: an ever-growing collection of starter kits, skills guides, and templates, adapted for state legislative offices of every size looking for new ideas or best practices spanning casework to AI.
Hands-on AI training: approachable, personalized AI training, providing participants the opportunity to ask questions, see tools in action, and explore how AI can be adopted within legislative workflows to improve efficiency and capacity. Learn more and schedule a training.
Research on legislative capacity: through a series of interviews with staff across the country, we are working to increase transparency and understanding of how states are managing growing workloads and how AI could shape the way we think about capacity itself.
